Michael “Mick” Bellamy was a good friend of Bramcote and we are all worse off due to his passing. Mick’s love for our area resulted in his enthusiastic commitment to resident groups trying to shape planning policy in Bramcote. He was a member of the informal group of Moor Lane residents that, successfully, campaigned against extreme policies proposed by Broxtowe in what became the 2014 Aligned Core Strategy. That group became the planning committee of the Bramcote Hills Community Association and eventually the Bramcote Neighbourhood Forum.
Mick used to roam the hills of our park with his dog and always had time to share a warm word. I – and many others – will miss him and are grateful for his friendship over many years.
