Bramcote College Update

Paul Nathanail writes:

The old Bramcote School building is being demolished after serious fire damage in autumn 2021. The site is in the control of the insurance company and demolition is needed to make the site safe. Artefacts in good condition that could be safely retrieved and preserved have been recovered from the building.

The reuse of the land is being finalised within the context of the lease commitment the White Hills Park Federation has to the beholder – Notts County Council – and the allocation of the land for education or leisure use in the Broxtowe local plan.

The planning application for the replacement school buildings for Bramcote College is due next month and the application for housing on the Coventry Lane Playing Fields is due the month after. The school will be larger than previous anticipated as the County Council needs more secondary school places. The WHPF plans an afternoon and evening event (date to be decided) in June to share the new plans.

  1. Artefacts in good condition that could be safely retrieved and preserved have been recovered from the building.

Nothing should have been left there in the first place. The school closed in 2017 and as I had previously said it is like the last one out locked the door and everything was forgotten about.
So much could have been either sold on or given to others to make use of, now it’s going to scrap.

Watching urbex videos online you can see old photos, school work, trophies, food donations all just left there. We will not know how much stuff has sadly been damaged or taken away by others.

It should have never been left to get in the poor state it is in, even before the fire.
