Winter social care recruitment drive

Social Care Staff

Around 100 temporary adult social care workers are needed in Nottinghamshire ahead of what could be one of the most difficult winters for our health and social care system.

This recruitment follows the government’s announcement of its winter plan for social care.The plan is backed by over £550 million including £162.5 million to support the recruitment of new staff and the retention of existing carers.

The Nottinghamshire Plan

A new, ambitious plan which sets out Nottinghamshire County Council’s 10-year vision to deliver a ‘healthy, prosperous, and greener future’ for communities has been approved

The Nottinghamshire Plan is a nine-point blueprint shaped by the responses to the Big Notts Survey, which was carried out earlier this year.

On your marks . . . Funding pot worth £50,000 now open to help talented athletes

Talented Athletes

Funding to support the county’s budding Olympians, Paralympians and Special Olympians is available to help overcome potential financial hurdles such as training and equipment costs.

The council has more than doubled its current Talented Athletes funding pot to £50,000 to help more up-and-coming athletes recognise their potential in their chosen sport.

Families urged to avoid using loan sharks this Christmas

Loan sharks

Families across the county are being urged not to turn to predatory loan sharks to help pay for Christmas presents this year.

The Illegal Money Lending Team has launched its annual Christmas campaign which aims to raise awareness of the dangers of using loan sharks. The campaign features advice and tips on how to stay safe from illegal money lenders over the festive period.

Plastic bottle tops now accepted in kerbside recycling bins

Water bottle

Residents are now able to recycle plastic bottle top lids (the bottles must be clean and squashed with the lid then put back on) in their kerbside recycling bins.

This service enhancement comes after approval at the County Council’s Transport and Environment Committee. Previously residents were asked to remove bottle tops and place them in their general waste bin.
