Wollaton u3a Update

Wollaton u3a is established for people in their Third Age (Retired, semi-retired or simply no longer have responsibility for children) to expand their interests in an informal and social atmosphere.

As we emerge from the restrictions of Covid-19 our Interest Groups are beginning to reawaken! Our walking groups are fully operational, and some other groups have started to meet outside (weather permitting!). Hopefully, we will soon be able to return to a full programme for all our groups.

We hold a monthly “Speaker” meeting on 4th Tuesday monthly, by Zoom until September, when we hope that we will return to meeting in St. Leonard’s Community Centre. Our forthcoming meetings are:

Tuesday 24th August at 10.00am by ZOOM

Roman York by Karen Adams an archaeologist and historian who grew up in York and became extremely interested in the history of that city. Her talk covers “Discovering the evidence for the building of a fortress and Colonia of Eboracum.”

Tuesday 28th September at 10.00am in St. Leonard’s Community Centre, Wollaton.

This meeting will enable members to meet face to face to chat over a cup of coffee and biscuits. The meeting will also involve the AGM, Annual Membership Renewal, and some group discussion on the way forward.

Tuesday 26th October at 10.00am in St. Leonard’s Community Centre, Wollaton.

A talk by Paul Newsham on The Life of Alan Turing
