Bramcote Hills Golf Course

The owners of Bramcote Hills Golf Course have now appealed against the council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a retirement complex on the site. The appeal reference number is APP/J3015/W/21/3274627. All comments made in respect of the original planning application will be forwarded to the inspector and any new comments can be sent to The appeal will be on the basis of written representations, so there will not be a public enquiry. Bramcote Councillor David Watts said: “This application was completely wrong for this site. It horrified local residents whose homes would have been blighted by the scheme. We will be making sure that the Planning inspector is fully aware of the strength of feeling locally and we encourage as many other people as possible to send in their views as well.

  1. Awful plans. Used to live in Wembley Gardens and I know the residents are very unhappy… surely a better use of the land.

  2. it possible to give a quick overview of the history of this development?
I thought that the first application was refused by our planners/members but that the first Inspector then approved the scheme on appeal.
Was the rejection by planners which generated the latest appeal for the entire site or just the northern area..where the development overlooks houses?
Is the second Inspector purely concerned with the area that “adversely affects” residents or is he looking at the entire project site with fresh eyes?
Residents spent an awful amount of time and energy in writing with comments and the loss of the wildlife corridor for example was not taken into account at all by the first Inspector. Will the latest Inspector review all past comments and take them into account based on the 2019 planning framework?
Are any new reasons to object now more important than in the past?
