Thank you from Steve Carr

I am honoured to have been re-elected as the County Councillor for Bramcote and Beeston North and thank all those residents that put their trust in me for another 4 years. I love the area I represent and the people. I live here. It’s the community I am part of and will continue to represent to the best of my ability.

There is one issue I would like to clear up. There was an accusation before the election that I was in this for the money and that I claimed lots of expenses. Indeed, someone suggested sending a Freedom of Information request. Well you don’t have to do that as this information is readily available on the County Council’s website and I have attached it below. Those making the accusations will see that I receive the basic allowance (on which I pay tax and national insurance) and I didn’t claim any expenses. One of few councillors that does not claim expenses. The figures for 20/21 will be published shortly and will show exactly the same.

  1. How very sad and distressing to be accused of ‘being in it for the money’.

The basic allowance like most of your colleagues and from my own experience it barely covers the hours you/they spend serving the community on a daily basis. It has been said that it equates to less than the hourly minimum wage. So shame on those casting such unwarranted remarks.
