19/01/21 – Online commemorations will take place to mark Holocaust Memorial Day next week, as part of a community service being produced by Broxtowe Borough Council.
Councillor Patrick said: “Every year people are invited to join the ceremony at Bramcote Hills Park in the Holocaust Memorial Garden, to come together as a community to mark this important event in the Borough calendar. Due to the pandemic, we are unable to invite people to join us physically but instead would like to unite together virtually.
This year’s theme is ‘be the light in the dark’. Holocaust Memorial Day acts as a beacon of light every January that shines on the darkness of genocides that have taken place around the world in the past. But it is not just something relegated to the past, every day ordinary people are facing persecution. It is imperative that we continue to remember these dark days so we can continue to forge ahead and create our own moments of light in the world.”
Each year for the past 20 years Broxtowe Borough Council has held a ceremony at Bramcote Hills Park to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
