UPDATE: Pair arrested over Stapleford shooting are released on bail

Two men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in the arm in Stapleford have been released on bail.

The pair, both aged 21, were detained on Tuesday (24 November) following a number of warrants and arrest enquiries.

Their arrests were in connection with an ongoing investigation after a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm near to Hickings Lane Park on the night of Wednesday 18 November.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been discharged.

Today detectives arrested a third man, aged 58, on suspicion of assisting an offender. He remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Kim Binns, who is leading the investigation, said: “We understand that incidents involving firearms are immensely concerning for the community, and as such we take them extremely seriously.

“We would like to thank the local community for their co-operation throughout our ongoing investigation. I’d like to reassure them that we are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice.

“Our extensive enquiries into this incident are continuing and we are urging anyone who has any information which may help us with our investigation, and who haven’t already come forward, to please get in contact with us.
