Proposal for Land Adjacent to Bramcote Ridge

A parcel of land adjacent to Bramcote Ridge has recently been sold. Most of it is in the City but a portion is in Broxtowe. See:

Cate Woodward, Labour councillor for Wollaton West writes:

I have a progress report about Bramcote
Ridge (you may already know or have heard rumours.)
Anyway, I understand that there is a proposal for the land going forward
and that there is to be an all day drop-in consultation event at
Wollaton Library on Friday 19th July between 9.30am and 5.45pm.
Please can you spread the word and encourage as many people as possible
to try and call in there at some point during the day?

I’ll be happy to speak to anyone who has concerns after the event, when
I know more about it too.

Kind regards

  1. The promoters of this site rang me this week to talk about their proposals. I would encourage as many people as possible to go and express their views. Although the vast majority of the proposed housing is in the city rather than in Broxtowe two proposed houses are in Bramcote. Both would be accessed off the top of Sandy Lane. The proposal also includes tidying up the land along Bramcote Ridge and creating a new public park. Ian, Hannah and I are planning to attend the consultation to have a look at these details and we hope as many Bramcote residents as possible will also do so. I was hoping that we would be able to arrange a consultation in Bramcote but there isn’t at the moment anywhere that this can be held.

  2. I too would encourage Bramcote residents to attend the consultation regarding the proposed development on Bramcote Ridge.

I would also remind folk that Bramcote’s previous Ward Councillors successfully opposed the development on the old Golf Course site supported by the Borough Planners and Planning Committee (sadly upheld on appeal) I would hope therefore that the current Bramcote Ward Councillors and Broxtowe Planning Committee will similarly oppose any development on our protected and much Bramcote Ridge.
