Green Belt ‘being eroded at an alarming rate’

Nationally 460,000 houses being planned for land that will be released from the Green Belt, while the percentage of ‘affordable’ homes built continues to fall

The Green Belt remains under severe pressure, despite government commitments to its protection, according to a new report from the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE).

  1. What depressing (but unsurprising) reading. We must keep pushing developers to use brownfield sites, especially those that have been blighting the environment for years, and to keep promises about affordable homes. I’m afraid their need/desire to maximise profits is clearly not in the general interest in this situation.
