One month on from the official launch and grand departure of Bramcote man Robert Cleave on his personal challenge and charitable cause, Robert’s Ride 18000 has covered an incredible 748 miles (1,206 km) and spent almost 70 hours in the saddle.
The first mile was shared with more than 300 supporters bidding farewell to Robert and sharing his first mile at Bramcote Hills Park on 7 April.
Recommencing in Agadir, Morocco and cycling the Atlantic Coast to cross into Europe Robert has so far raised more than £10,000 for his charitable causes, Traidcraft Exchange and Cancer Research UK.
All of Robert’s movements are documented on his website www.robertsride18000.com and are attracting a good following. Everyone from community groups to churches, schools and sportsmen or just people sitting in the comfort of their lounge chair and joining in to follow the ride are documenting their support and comments over several social media platforms and through donations to Robert’s chosen charities.
The next highlight for ‘Team Robert’ based here in the UK will be to cycle the equivalent distance as Nottingham to Loughborough return, totalling 38 miles on a ‘Smoothie Bike’ at the 2018 Hemlock Happening which is to be held on 9 June at Bramcote Hills Park. Why not come along and catch up with Robert’s progress and cycle your way to a free smoothie as we join in supporting the man who is ‘Cycling Around the World the Life Changing Way’. Afterall, we have the easy task!
