Statement from Anna Soubry following BCM Manufacturing’s announcement

“Today’s announcement is very concerning and disappointing. I have asked BCM for an assurance that any redundancy programme is handled properly, with full support for any worker who loses their job to enable them to get a new job as quickly as possible.”

“BCM assure me that their owners Fareva remain committed to the Beeston factory, 700 jobs will be retained and further investments will be made to grow the manufacturing site. BCM has explained the loss of jobs is nothing to do with Brexit and everything to do with a better facility in Cardiff where many of the jobs will go. The Grade 1 listed DC10 building needs modernising to maximise its full potential and ensure they continue to manufacture pharmaceuticals and skin care products at the former Boots factory. I have contacted Broxtowe Borough Council to request they do all they can to assist BCM in ensuring the factory is fit for purpose”.
