Longer days and warmer temperatures signal the start of the Great British Summertime, but can also mean an increase in pests and creepy critters in your home and garden. Broxtowe Borough Council is reminding residents what to do if they have a pest problem.
The Council no longer provides a Pest Control Service but has some useful advice on tackling pests including:
We recommend you use a pest control professional
Check they are a member of the British Pest Control Association https://bpca.org.uk/ or National Pest Technicians Association http://npta.org.uk/
Get at least three quotations
Find out if there is a call out fee or fixed charge
Find out what service and guarantee they will provide you with
Ensure they have insurance cover
Check their qualifications
Ensure you are happy with him/her and understand the advice they give
Consider personal recommendations from friends and neighbours
If you are renting and you are concerned about pests you should contact your landlord or relevant repairs team.
If you decide to treat the pest yourself, there is advice on the British Pest Control Association website https://bpca.org.uk/pest-advice/a-z-of-pests
Guidance for Bees can be found on the British Bee Keepers Assocation website https://www.bbka.org.uk
