Army Cadet Force volunteers ready for Three Peaks Challenge

Adult volunteers who help young people in Nottinghamshire are set to reach new heights by taking on the Three Peaks Challenge for charity.

The instructors with Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) are looking to climb the mountains of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours beginning at 5pm on Friday 23 June.

The 10 participants are looking to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund – The Soldiers Charity, having completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last June.

Through the training they receive with the ACF, the group are already well equipped for this year’s challenge and raring to go.

Major Darren Taylor, an adult volunteer and Officer Commanding of B Company, Nottinghamshire ACF, is organising the event and taking part.

He said: “Last year’s completion of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge raised over £2,000 for a very worthwhile charity.

“We are upping the ante this year and taking on an even bigger challenge, so I am hoping we can surpass last year’s total.”
