In response to Pat Ratcliff, Paul Nathanial and Steve Carr
I have contacted the Leader of the County Council and Nottinghamshire Labour Group Alan Rhodes and this is his response:
“In respect of fracking, there have been no applications to frack in the county as yet and obviously no permissions granted to frack. There have been applications and permissions granted for seismic testing to take place which does not imply that permission to frack will automatically be granted. Under the current law it is very difficult, if not impossible, for local authorities to refuse seismic testing applications without being drawn into lengthy and very costly legal battles that we are virtually certain to lose.”
Broxtowe Labour is also vehemently opposed to Fracking as can be seen from our public statement https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=617630645077048&id=323132217860227&hc_location=ufi
Similarly if elected on 9th June a Labour government will not support fracking across the UK, so you will see that Labour is united against Fracking across the board and is only constrained by current planning laws imposed by the Conservative government which I am sure given the position of Labour on fracking, in government we would end.
Let me also take this opportunity to assure residents that on a personal level, I am opposed to fracking and will represent the views of Bramcote and Beeston North residents in opposing such activity if I am elected on 4th May. Vote for me on the 4th May and I will work hard to be a strong voice of opposition against Fracking for the whole of our community.
