Alderman White and Bramcote College Celebrate Following Inspection Success.

Staff and students at Alderman White School in Chilwell and Bramcote College 6th Form are celebrating following their recent Ofsted inspection. Inspectors found that all aspects of the school and College, – Leadership, Teaching and Learning, Personal Development, Behaviour and Safety, and Outcomes for Pupils – are Good. Everyone is delighted that the hard work and dedication of teachers, support staff, Governors and, of course, students is recognised in such a positive way and that inspectors speak so positively about the progress we have made, and are continuing to make.

Inspectors have recognised much of the excellent work that takes place at the school. Students make good progress across the curriculum, including Maths and English. The improvement in standards in Maths is picked out for particular mention, and this is typical across all subjects and for all groups of students – as they comment ‘all groups of pupils are making good progress from their different starting points, including the most able.’ Languages are highlighted for the exceptional progress that students make.

The quality of teaching is also recognised as a major strength, and is an area in which staff have worked very hard to improve to such high levels. Leadership at all levels is praised, including the leadership shown by Directors, as well as senior and middle leaders across the board. The wonderful extra-curricular opportunities that students can access are also highlighted in the report.

It is a source of great pride that students’ conduct is described as ‘exemplary’, and that they are confident learners. The work that is done to promote personal development and students’ safety is praised highly, as is the work with vulnerable students and those with special educational needs. The parent survey for Inspectors was overwhelmingly positive and supportive.

Inspectors recognised the excellent work that takes place at the 6th Form college, and praise the ‘culture of ambition’ in the 6th Form. They are confident that students make good progress across the curriculum and that they are given excellent support and advice to plan their next steps, all going on to suitable destinations.

School and college leaders will use this report as a springboard to continue the rapid improvement of recent years – they have the highest aspirations for the students of Alderman White and Bramcote College, and will build on this success in the coming months and years.

Paul Heery, Executive Head Teacher of the White Hills Park Federation Trust commented:
‘This report recognises the wonderful work of staff and students, and the huge strides we have taken. The future is very bright for Alderman White and Bramcote College.’

Nicola Caley, Alderman White Head of School commented:
‘We are all thrilled that we have been recognised as providing a great educational experience for our wonderful students. Our INSPIRE values of Integrity, Nurture, Success, Perseverance, Innovation and Engagement were rightly acknowledged as being at the core of what we stand for. We will continue to embed these, so that the outcomes for all students maintain their rapid improvement. This will, in turn, give all our students the chance to reach their potential and move into successful and fulfilling adult lives.’

James MacDonald, Head of Bramcote College commented:
‘It is pleasing that the Inspectors found that students were overwhelmingly positive about their experience in the sixth-form and acknowledged the advice and support that students receive from our dedicated and inspiring teachers.’

Adam Bird, Chair of Directors at the White Hills Park Federation Trust commented:
‘Against a backdrop of significant change driven by government policy, the entire team have pulled together and embedded a culture of continuous improvement across all aspects of the school. This result is due recognition of that effort and the governing body is confident that outcomes for all students will continue this advancement.’

  1. This is fantastic news. I am so pleased for the staff who have worked so hard to achieve this. And what great students! Delighted for the school and the area.

  2. Cllr Martin Plackett Bramcote Ward BBC says:

As Stan says great news, all credit to Executive Head Paul Heery, his Staff, Pupils and the Directors ( Governors) who for many years included Stan in their number, for all their hard work and dedication.
This achievement will be a ‘springboard’ for the changes planned over the next period including a new 21st century School building.

    • Pat Ratcliffe says:

Good news indeed for pupils to receive good education.
However it doesn’t surprise me that someone who made a big issue of protecting the green belt in order to get elected, is now in favour of giving away public land to a private company in order to finance a failed model of education.
Pretend to take care of the many while in reality putting cash in the pockets of the few.
