  1. Councillor Richard MacRae says:

The two Johns will be strong voices for Awsworth, Bramcote, Cossall, Stapleford, and Trowell on Notts County Council.

Sorry to say but that is the funniest thing I have ever read on this website.

    Protecting our Green Belt

“have actively campaigned to ensure that the Planning Inspector hears your concerns.”

Really, As a Stapleford Councillor and member of STRAG I was sat around the table at the public inquiry talking to the Planning Inspector with regards the development on Field Farm, I was sat with the leader of Stapleford Town Council, Councillor Dave Pearson and there were no other Councillors talking during the meeting, in fact Councillor John Longdon did turn up late after the meeting had started and sat at the back of the room, he did not speak and did not request to speak neither.

    Standing up for Stapleford

“I’m glad the Post Office reconsidered after this campaign.”

This is NOT what happened, the Post Office did not reconsider after the campaign, what happened was the Manager of the Off License withdrew his application as he was not happy with all that the Post Office wanted him to do and the changes they wanted him to make in his shop. It was down to the Manager withdrawing his application.

Also a meeting did take place at the Office of our MP talking about the Post Office and it was attended by the MP, Councillor Adam Stockwell, Councillor Chris Rice, Councillor John McGrath, Councillor Shane Eaton and myself along with Officers from the Post Office and Councillor Richard Jackson as leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, no other Councillors were in attendance.

Now since then I have been working very closely with a business in Stapleford and hope to have details to release as soon as possible with regards the Post Office in Stapleford and I have also been speaking with an Officer from the Post Office too.

    Sorting out our roads

I have done several ward inspections since I was elected in 2015 and on none of the occasions has Councillor John Longdon attended any of them, I have walked around with several Council Officers and have been the only Ward Councillor to do so.

In the past I have spoken on issues in the ward at Broxtowe Borough Council and on two occasions Councillor John Longdon as my fellow Ward Councillor has got up and walked out of the room as I start to speak, only to return once I have finished. He outright refuses to work with me and even talk to me which I find a very odd way to behave, when I mentioned the very serious issues of Drugs in Stapleford at Stapleford Town Council he said it was something we should not be talking about and it should have not been on the agenda. i feel that sticking ones head in the sand does not help with the issues we were elected to deal with.

This is the same Stapleford Councillor who wanted Stapleford Town Council to spend over £2,000 on badges for past Mayors then denied he had even asked for it to be put on the agenda. A freedom of information request proved he did actually ask for this.

So a strong voice for Stapleford and Broxtowe Central, never in a month of Sundays.

  2. Ian Blakeley says:

Thank you for that Richard. Very enlightening.
