Stapleford’s Annual Christmas Light Switch on will take place on Saturday the 26th November. The event has been organised by Liberty Leisure Events in conjunction with Stapleford Town Council, the Towns ‘Christmas Light Switch on Steering Group’ and Broxtowe Borough Council. “Specsavers are delighted to be the main sponsor of the 2016 Christmas Light Switch on events in the Borough of Broxtowe,” said Krishna Parmar, Specsavers Director.
The fun and festivities will start at 3.30pm in the Walter Park VC Memorial Square and the Victoria Street car park with live entertainment from local singers, choirs and The George Spencer Academy who will entertain with a mix of seasonal songs and live music. Join in with some festive carols as you gather to watch the Town’s new Christmas lights being switched on at 4.30pm by the Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Cllr Graham Harvey, and the Stapleford Town Mayor, Cllr Ray Darby.[Please see Richard MacRae’s Comment below our original information came from Broxtowe BC and Liberty Leisure] Bop along to songs from the 60’s to present days from Nottingham band ‘Wildwood’ a dynamic rock & pop covers before the spectacular Firework display at 6.30pm.
There will be lots more going on to keep the whole family entertained, children can meet Santa and his Elves in his Magical Grotto inside the Stapleford & Bramcote Conservative Club with every child receiving a ticket on entry, one lucky Golden ticket winner will have the opportunity to join Father Christmas on stage as he leads the count down to the Finale Fireworks. There will be festive street entertainment, children’s fairground rides, a Hot food wagon and a variety of Charity, trade and food stalls on the Walter Parker VC Memorial Square giving you the opportunity to buy some Christmas gifts and food.
There will be a road closure in place on the lower part of Victoria Street from 2.30pm until 7.30pm and the lower part of the Victoria Street car park will be closed all day for the event.
