Vote for Bramcote Hills Park as the People’s Choice 2016

bramcote-hills-email-me-banner-1_cropBramcote Hills Park is one of the Borough’s most popular sites and is visited by thousands of people each week who enjoy it’s many attractions, including the play area, Walled Garden, Holocaust Memorial Garden, open park and woodland and heritage attractions.

After celebrating its tenth year as a prestigious Green Flag Award winning park earlier this year, what better way to end the year on a high than being named a People’s Choice Award Winning park!

This year, Keep Britain Tidy are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Green Flag Award, there won’t just be one People’s Choice winner – there will be ten, all voted for by the public.

The voting has begun and ends on Friday 30 September. The ten most popular parks and green space in the UK will be announced in October.

  1. It will take you less time to vote for the Park than to read this posting – so stop reading and vote here: http://www.greenflagaward.org/park-summary/?ParkID=511

Over the past two decades Bramcote Hills Park has meant a variety of things to me – buggy pushing, toddler walking and early bike riding lessons gave way to trips to the (ever improving) ‘swings’, walks through the woods and even the occasional Nordic Walk. Most recently the motive has expanded to accompanying the PokemonGo hunter, gatherer, egg hatcher in the family.
It took me less time to vote for this fantastic community asset than it took to write this posting.

I have lived in this vicinity for many years and way back remember taking my children there before many of the present day facilities were in place, teaching them to ride bicycles more than 50 years ago. Todays park is much improved and the proposed community café will be a welcome addition. Unfortunately, as old age creeps on I cannot make use of it as I would like but when my daughter was here two weeks ago we went in and amongst other things looked at her old school Bramcote Grammar.

  3. Ian Blakeley says:

The Park is absolutely wonderful. My Grandchildren all enjoy it whenever they go there. Personally, in spite of rumours to the contrary, I cannot see the local authority allowing it to be transformed into 3/4 bedroom houses.
