Explore the History of Beeston over Tea, Coffee & Cake

Beeston Town Hall will open its doors next month, giving visitors a unique opportunity to explore the history of Beeston over tea, coffee and cake, as part of this year’s National Heritage Open Days.

Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Graham Harvey will attend the Open Day on Friday 9th September at the Town Hall, Foster Avenue, Beeston.

Employees from Broxtowe Borough Council have prepared a display including old maps, civic memorabilia and even press cuttings from over 100 years ago. Past Mayors will provide guided tours of the Town Hall.

Beeston and District Civic Society will also be on hand to answer questions about Broxtowe’s history and visitors to the event, between 11.00am and 2.00pm, can also buy tea, coffee and cake, with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s chosen charity, Prostate Cancer UK.

Heritage Open Days are an annual national celebration of England’s fantastic architecture, culture and history, offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. This year’s events take place between Thursday 8th and Sunday 11th September.

A packed programme of events will take place across Attenborough, Beeston, Bramcote, Chilwell and Stapleford, organised by Beeston and District Civic Society in conjunction with Beeston and District Local History Society, Friends of Bramcote Old Church Tower and Stapleford and District Local History Society.
