Sherwin Roundabout, Bramcote

Councillor Martin Plackett writes:-

The excellent Broxtowe Borough Council Environment Team last night carried out further cyclical maintenance work on Bramcote Island, including hand weeding where necessary and fertiliser treatment to boost growth of the shrubs. Further works are planned for the 8th/9th June.

Our Borough Business and Projects team too has met with Nottingham City Council Franchise and Sponsorship team, who have a wide range of commercial contacts, to seek help in generating income from sponsorship for the maintenance work on the Island.

Highways England have yet again been ‘pressed very hard’ to effect a thorough clean of the Bridge. They are indicating that when a new contractual agreement for trunk road maintenance is duly completed and in place from July it is hoped that this work will be scheduled. The Bridge is looking truly dreadful and in consequence pressure for the cleaning work to be undertaken will continue.

Cllr Martin Plackett
Broxtowe Borough Councillor, Bramcote Ward.

Have you taken over from Jan Gould regarding the Sherwin Island Martin?

  2. Martin Plackett. Cllr.Bramcote Ward BBC says:

Hi Ian, thank you for reading the ‘posting’.
Following the last CAT meeting, which Jan was unable to attend I was directed by the meeting which I Chaired to contact both the Borough Council and Highways England. I subsequently therefore posted their written responses on ‘Bramcote Today’. Collectively, Jan, John Doddy and I remain equally committed to working together to improving both the entrance to South Browtowe which is the Sherwin Island and the Bridge over the A52, an objective I know you too share and we are grateful for your support.
