Literacy Volunteers Are Looking for New Volunteers

Emma Trowbridge, Special Projects Officer/Area Co-ordinator (South Broxtowe), Literacy Volunteers writes: Volunteers are needed to help primary school children in Nottinghamshire with their reading and communication skills. The Volunteers read, talk and play word games with selected children on a one-to-one basis away from the classroom, to give them confidence and help them enjoy reading and communicating. Volunteers need to be able to commit to visiting a local school on the same morning or afternoon each week (for at least a year) and their own transport would be an advantage. They do not need any formal qualifications – training and ongoing support is provided. Volunteers should like children, enjoy reading, be patient, flexible and reliable. Volunteers will be vetted through the Disclosure and Barring Service. If you are interested in this rewarding and fun role, please email emmatrowbridge@literacyvolunteers.org.uk.
