Protection of the Green Belt

Press Statement from Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Richard Jackson:

“The Council’s Cabinet agreed to prioritise development on brownfield land in order to protect as much green belt as possible.

It was also agreed the Council will work closely with the local MP, Rt Hon Anna Soubry, to encourage the Ministry of Defence to consider its landholding in the Borough to further protect the green belt.

Communication and joint working with neighbouring authorities will continue to maximise the use of brownfield land in the area as far as possible.”

The Aligned Core Strategy was adopted by the Council in September 2014 following a public examination by an independent Planning Inspector.
