From Thursday 1st October 2015, there will be no parking charges after 4.00pm in all Council car parks (except Station Road car park Beeston near Beeston train station).
Research has indicated that the footfall in the four town centres of Beeston, Eastwood, Kimberley and Stapleford reduce from mid-afternoon. The aim is to encourage people back into the town centre and revitalise the local trade by suspending car park charges from 4.00pm.
Car parking will effectively be free for those arriving after 3.00pm, but people arriving between 3.00pm – 4.00pm must still obtain and clearly display a 1 hour free parking voucher. All other restrictions including the 3 hour maximum stay policy still apply in short stay shoppers car parks.
The obligation to obtain and clearly display a ticket or voucher still applies before 4.00pm.
In addition, the following car parks will become free all day Saturday:
· Devonshire Avenue, Beeston
· Oxford Street, Eastwood
· Victoria Street, Kimberley
· Halls Road, Stapleford
Three hours of car parking at Portland Street car park in Beeston will only cost £1.00 Mondays to Saturdays.
Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council and Portfolio Holder for Environment and Economic Development, Councillor Richard Jackson said: “We know that the footfall in our town centres is lower after 3.00pm and we hope that this parking initiative will help boost the economy.
“The scheme will encourage residents and shoppers to spend more time in our towns supporting local businesses, without having to cut short their visits because they’re concerned about parking charges.”
