Landscaping Works at Bramcote Roundabout From 12 January

Richard MacRae reports that landscaping work will start  on 12 January for six weeks on Bramcote roundabout. The work will take place overnight to minimise traffic disruption. although the aim is to complete any noisy work before midnight to minimise disturbance to local residents.

The work will remove unwanted plants and replace them with low level specimens to improve visibility and the look of the roundabout.

I thought this was supposed to be carried out earlier this year. Like I said then, there is nothing wrong with the island as it is. Its a haven for wildlife, the plants on the island(s) do not block any vision, (I know as I drive around it several times a day), and the taller plants/trees are not in any danger of fouling any overhead cables as there aren’t any. Just ANOTHER case of spending the budget before the year end. Come on Soubry, get cracking on this and leave the place alone.

Another example of wasted money. I agree that the roundabout is currently a local feature and doesn’t need touching.
Surely in these times of austerity and cuts a better use can be found for OUR money?

  2. Barry Morrison says:

Quite right Ian. There is no blocking of vision if motorists keep to the right lanes and watch the traffic lights. This is one project which does not need to be done.

I’ve just sent this to our MP. I hope she acts quickly.

    Hi Anna
I hope you had a nice Christmas. Please can I ask you to look on Bramcote Today regarding landscaping works on Bramcote Island scheduled to begin on 12 January, and then get it stopped and thus save some of OUR money.
    Happy New Year
    Ian Blakeley

Is there any chance of our councillors, both Borough and County, getting stuck into this to save some cash. I know its Highways Agency work and they seem to be a law unto themselves. Can’t seem to find a phone number either.
