More Tram Route Photographs

Properties demolished on Chilwell Road

I have taken a few more Tram route photographs.  They were taken in Beeston and Chilwell in the period from 21 April 2012 to 15 June 2012. They show  shops closing on Chilwell Road, demolition work on Chilwell Road, Bus Station layout changes to allow for the car park demolition, other preparation work for the car park demolition and work by the college on Chilwell High Road. I hope this is all going be worth it. I can’t see it, but then I obviously havn’t got the brilliant planning vision of Broxtowe Borough Council! Have they planned to build new shops and offices anywhere… No. Just housing including a great number on what little Green Belt we have in Broxtowe.

    Well said Rick

I am sure David Watts will have something on this subject, but if Beeston Square is tapped in to your computer there is a wealth of detail about Henry Boots (who have a long lease on the area) plans for the Square redevelopment (some already approved by the Council) hopefully to be completed by 2014 with shops and restaurants to liven Beeston up.
Also, as far as I am aware Broxtowe had very little say in the Tram, Highways and public transport are in the remit of the County and in any case the existing bus station is as anyone using it can see far too cramped for the number of buses it serves.
Although these issues are not strictly Bramcote matters, many residents will have an interest as users of Beeston facilities so no doubt we can look forward to much more on the subject until the tram is up and running and the redevelopment completed..

  4. David Watts says:

Peter is absolutely right and as well as these there is a Beeston Town Centre Masterplan which is available showing offices and shops, designed to ensure that the centre thrives. There is also a significant amount of detail about developing the town centre in the Core Strategy, and the council have recently agreed to appoint a town centre manager, something I have been pressing them to do for a while.
